Our Story

From humble beginnings...

Five years ago we moved into our home in Columbus, GA. Just like any other property in our area, it was filled with nothing but invasive species and turf grass. In essence, a dead zone with minimal habitat for our native fauna. After years of trial and error, grass removal, and planting of thousands native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants, our small 1/2 acre is filled with life! Snakes, spiders, butterflies, bees, and other native species have found refuge with us and our yard is always filled with a flurry of activity. The property has become home to many native bird species as well as a migratory resting and refueling station for traveling birds. Our human neighbors now stop whenever we are outside to compliment us on our native paradise.

Along with turning our own home into a private oasis for wildlife, we have been working to create a non-profit organization that can expand our idea of the new American dream to others in our community! The days of green lush lawns are over. Non-native grass is a wasteland, providing zero nourishment and habitat for our pollinators. Our life depends on our native pollinators, and we can help you build native landscapes that will last for generations. Native plants not only belong in our area, but require minimal maintenance and are the cornerstone of a healthy ecosystem.

Join us on our journey as we plant the seeds of change!

Our Mission

Our mission is to protect and restore the diversity of native plant species in Georgia through conservation, education, and community engagement. We strive to engage local communities in our efforts, and work closely with state and federal agencies to ensure that our work aligns with broader conservation goals. We are dedicated to making a lasting positive impact on Georgia's native plant populations and ecosystems.

Our Vision

Our vision is a future where Georgia's native plant populations are able to thrive and flourish, and where local communities are actively involved in protecting and restoring these vital ecosystems.
